For instance, iRobot, creator of the Roomba vacuum, contacted APC at the beginning of 2008 with a challenge to create a membrane-type bladder for use in a new product. Over the course of several months the companies worked together on multiple iterations of a prototype. The final product was a collaborative solution using components from iRobot integrated with primary assemblies that uses welded-seam polyurethane from Aerial Products.

When Hungry Man Productions in New York contacted us about a television commmercial for Oreo Cookies, creativity was flying high. During commercials currently airing in September 2008, the Super Bowl-winning Manning brothers, Payton and Eli,compete against tennis phenoms Venus and Serena Williams in the Double Stuff Racing League. Not only did we create the official Double Stuff Racing League blimp to fly in the commercials, we also created a 50 foot specialty nylon sheet and a 20 foot nylon sheet used for the series of DSRL commercials. Universities throughout the United States also call upon us with unique engineering dilemmas and opportunities. In one instance, we created a polyurethane cube to capture Xenon gas. Just as one would rely on our urethane products to retain helium more effectively, our special cube design allowed for capture and retention of this colorless, odorless gas. There are many applications for the use of Xenon gas, such as its use in flash lamps and excimer lasers, as well as being a neutron absorber in nuclear reactors. Our collaborative solution helped our customer retain more of this precious noble gas.
